TREASURER’S REPORT – Bruce
presented the financial report as posted on the website. We have a balance of $65,320.00 cash on
hand. He also presented the budget for
the New Year. The budget was accepted as
presented. Our Sales Tax Certificate
Exemption for purchases expires the end of February. June stated that we need to do educational
programs such as with Head Start to qualify for this exemption.
June stated that we had 370
paid members last year. Also that Spike
Lay wants to run another set of lessons.
June suggested Friday mornings to him and the Board approved the use of
the club for this purpose. Our two session Grand National Qualifier had an attendance of nine
tables. June proposed that we can have a
one session event in the future and perhaps encourage a better attendance. Our December 13th Christmas party
will be a Club Championship game. June
also wants to have a 0 to 500 section.
The Board approved to provide the meat for this event and June will ask
for covered dish donations. Easy bridge
is discontinued. Bridge lessons are to begin again on January 14th
by June and Betty for novices. The Board
approved the purchase of books for these lessons. Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for
Peg Lupo and Barbara King
will put up the Christmas tree and decorations.
Frank has volunteered to do
public service announcements regarding Novice games.
GROUNDS/HOUSEKEEPING –John
stated that the A/C unit still has a small leak in the front of the building
and is being contained by a drip pan.
The rug was given a very good vacuuming during the Regional Tournament
closure of the club and hopefully this will be sufficient for a while. The bushes on the driveway have been pruned.
Chet suggested that we do not
buy cartridges for the printer from Office Depot. We can get a better deal for the Brothers’
printer cartridges from Cartridge World.
Frank reported on the subject
of replacing tables and chairs. He
thinks our chairs are OK for now. He
obtained prices on a package of 24 thirty seven inch white granite colored
tables for $1,300.00. It was discussed
that perhaps we do not want a larger table as our present tables are 34
inches. Target has a 34 inch table with
a black top for $28.99 each. Barbara was
going to get more prices on tables from Kmart.
It was decided that we might purchase five to ten new tables.
Alan Byrne is working on the
Sales Tax exemption status for the club.
Frank has prepared a flyer
advertising the bridge games at the club.
100 to 200 copies are to be made and distributed to condos, etc.
The Board approved the
following Christmas Bonuses:
Directors - $125.00 each
Cleaning Lady - $100.00
June Byrne - $200.00
A motion was made and carried
to increase June’s monthly payment to $200.00 per month.
Bruce stated that Joe Reeves
will perform the annual audit on our books.
It was suggested that large
signs be posted reminding members about annual dues being due and the Christmas
