Bruce Ohmann stated that Joe Reeves reviewed our books and recommended that we continue the current record keeping procedures. Our financial status was that we broke even for the month. The water bill was higher than usual due to the leak that has been found. June will call the water department to see if it can possibly be reduced.
Directors Report June said the novice bridge classes will start January 14th. She needs volunteers especially for the first class to help her. Spike will start his classes on Friday, January 18th. June has been going to the Head Start program and has been thoroughly enjoying working with the children. Our Xmas Party was successful. We had 20 ½ tables. June expects our Thursday afternoon section of 0 to 500 points in addition to our open game to have a good attendance. Doris Katz will talk to the New Journal to see if we can get a public service announcement regarding this game under the bridge hands in the paper.
Frank Fisher asked if perhaps we could have a Board-A-Match game or lessons on this subject, to educate more people in this type of play and increase attendance at the tournaments in these games.
John said our Club Committees for 2008 are as follows:
John said that Pat Heading will have our January Tournament in the Sunshine Bridge News and that a lot of the supplies are already on hand. It was suggested that our tournament fliers need to go out earlier to other bridge clubs.
Old Business Tables for the club are still being researched and have not been purchased. Two coolers have been purchased. Alan Byrne has been working on the Tax Exempt Status for the club. Pat Heading will be taking the gifts to Head Start on Friday. Frank Fisher has completed the bridge flyer on our games and said that the PSA stuff has been completed.
