TREASURER’S REPORT – Bruce gave the Treasurer’s report as posted on our web site.

DIRECTORS REPORT  June Byrne stated that the attendance for Easy Bridge on Mondays has been below expectations recently.  However, June wants to continue the game and expects attendance to increase in September.  The Board shall review this game again in October.

June also stated that the thursday team game was successful and a lot of points were awarded.  the pens purchased for prizes have been received and receipe books may possibly also be distributed as prizes.  we now have 369 members.  any new members joining the club from now until renewal time in november are to be given a slip for a free play.

REPORTS

Grounds/House – John reported that Don Beecher has placed an evaporation pan above the ceiling and so far it seems to be solving some of our leak problems.

OLD BUSINESS – John stated that Pat Heading has contacted a hotel and the Bridge Bulletin for our tournament in September.  Barbara King has donated an automatic pencil sharpener to the club.

NEW BUSINESS – Bob Renuart asked if we send information on our 72% games to the Sunshine News.  June said some regulations are involved and need to be met but to please bring to her attention anyone with a game in that category.

Bob Renuart asked if the Swiss Team games could be handicapped especially to help C players.  June said a game cannot be handicapped and stratified at the same time.  It has to be one or the other.  An ideal game would be to have enough teams to have a C section only and an A/B section only.  Barbara suggested that perhaps a limited lunch menu could also be provided at a minimal cost to stimulate attendance.   June will evaluate the pros/cons  of stratification versus handicapping for the next Swiss Game on August 11th.

Bob Renuart also said that Spike and Linda would like to use our facility for Bridge Lessons.  Linda would have lessons for the 0 to 200 points bracket and spike for the intermediate level.  The Board approved the use of the facility for this purpose on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings.  June requested they coordinate through her.  The Board stated that the instructors are to bring their own refreshments or reimburse the club for use of club refreshments.  Bob will relay this information to Spike and Linda.

Bob also asked if we would want to have notable players come to the club and give lectures.  Expenses were discussed and the Board decided it may be too expensive of a venture at this time.

The next meeting will be Monday August 20, 2007/

.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 P.M.
