DMBC Board Meeting October 20, 2008

The Meeting was called to order at 5:00 P.M. by President John Sterling.

The following members were in attendance:

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.

FINANCIAL REPORT – Bruce stated that we made $5,511.00 on the September tournament.  Our end of month balance is $55,529 in assets.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT - June stated that our Monday morning lessons and games have not gone as well as hoped.   She would like to see four tables as an acceptable attendance.  Our Tuesday afternoon game attendance is also not very good.  She is going to talk to Linda Miller about moving the Tuesday morning game into the afternoon possibly in November or try to figure out some way of increasing attendance.

We are having an extra team game this month.

June would also like to know if the Club is going to continue collecting toys for tots this Christmas. If so, June needs help for this project.  John will call Vivian Heading and see if she will take charge of this project.

GROUNDS/HOUSE REPORT – During the tournament it was brought to our attention that the front door closers may not be working properly.  This will be checked out.  June stated that the coffee pot backburner needs repair.  Problems were also encountered during the tournament with the telephone and the round timer.  These issues have been addressed.

TOURNAMENT REPORT – Max Bayard thanked all who worked so hard to make our tournament so successful.  It was truly a team effort and the end result was that he was very proud of our club members and image we projected.

OLD BUSINESS – Bruce asked where we were on our thoughts about purchasing the machine for pre-shuffling hands for the games.  John suggested that we try to get more information during the November Regional from those Directors.

  NEW BUSINESS – Our Election for Club Officers will be held on November 10, 2008.

John will call Merry Gebert and ask her to make up the ballots.

There being no further business the Meeting was adjourned at 5:25 P.M.
