DMBC BOARD MEETING FEBRUARY 18, 2008

The Board Meeting was called to order by President John Sterling at 5:00 P.M.

The following members were in attendance:

Doris Katz

Frank Fisher

Lynn Brown

Chet Masztak

Bruce Ohmann

Barbara King

Head Director – June Byrne

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as had been presented and also the Treasurer’s Report.

June stated that she had a lot of Bridge books left over from the classes and would like to put them up for sale at 6:00 each.  The Board approved this sale.

Doris Katz made a motion authorizing June the authority to negotiate with Ellie Stephens regarding the possible closure of her Wednesday afternoon game.  The motion was seconded by Lynn and carried.  The price of Ellie’s game fee would be carried over to our club for all sections playing that afternoon.

June said she is having problems getting enough directors to cover the games she is unable to run at this time.

She is still calling any names proposed to her for this position.  As a very last resort we may have to close the club for the smaller games if absolutely necessary.  This is an avenue she wants to avoid if at all possible.

OLD BUSINESS – John stated that Don Beecher has given us a temporary fix on our plumbing problem.  John will call Lou’s Plumbing to do the repairs necessary.  The fan in the ladies room will be replaced at a later date.

Also John keeps getting requests for card table replacement.  It was suggested that a good cleaning be done first to see if this would s improve appearances.  A utility cart for the kitchen was purchased and has been put into use.  A further purchase of tables has been put on hold due to lack of storage space and may be borrowed from some members on an as needed basis.  Doris contacted the New Journal again regarding the placement of information regarding our club under the bridge column in the newspaper.  She was now told that this information could only be put in the Go-Do section of the paper.  We have received another letter from the Florida Department of Revenue regarding our tax exempt status requesting further information.  Alan Byrne is still working on this project.  Doris also stated that the city has still not done anything about the street sign for Driftwood.  June suggested that perhaps we should contact Leisure Service regarding this matter.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:45 P.M.

Our next meeting will be March 17, 2008.
