DMBC BOARD MEETING

April 20, 2009

President Jim called the meeting to order at 4:55 p.m.

Members in attendance were Jim, Chet, Judy, Donna and Jim.

John presented the budget report.

We are in the process of obtaining a new 10,000 dollar CD paying 2.2% interest.  The new sign inside the Club has been paid for at a cost of $100.  Directors' fees are up due to more tables.  March was the best month we've had since 2002.  It was noted that we are spending more on supplies, particularly printer cartridges because of the new practice of supplying game printouts.  It was suggested that at our games we have the directors announce that these printouts are available online at the Club's website.

Jim reviewed the process of making changes to the by-laws. The Articles of Incorporation stipulate that any changes to the by-laws must be proposed by a majority of board members or a minimum of twenty-five club members who submit proposed changes to the board. The Secretary must notify all members of the proposed changes in writing within fifteen days.  This notification will also include the date and time of a future general club or annual meeting at which a majority vote of the membership will approve any changes to the existing by-laws. There is no current request for a change.

Chet will, however, type the By-laws and ask Bill to post them on our Club website.

Jim reported that we are currently carrying $500,000 of personal liability insurance and $10,000 for medical expenses with $150,000 for damages to the building at a cost to us of $679 per year.  Judy volunteered to contact other clubs to compare coverage and costs.

An article has been submitted to the Sunshine News regarding our party for Platinum members.

Donna reported that revisions to the Directory have been completed.

Jim also reported that the News Journal charges $590 for a 1" by 1" add running 29 times/month.  Even though ACBL will pick up half the cost, for now we will continue to promote our events through flyers and consider submitting to the "Happenings" section of the News Journal which is free.

The next meeting is set for May 11th, a week earlier than usual.

Meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
