DMBC
BOARD MEETING
June 15, 2009
President, Jim Geary, called the meeting to order at 4:50
p.m.
Members in attendance were Jim, Chet, Barbara, Donna, Scott,
Sally, and Lynn.
Scott Weiss was welcomed as our new board member.
Jim presented the financial
report.
- Our club is holding assets in
CDs of approximately $58K.
- It was noted that our water
bill was unusually high for the month of May. There was a plumbing problem, likely
affecting the water usage, which has been addressed. We will watch it closely to be sure that
was the problem.
- The table count for May was
down 38 from 2008. This can partly
be explained by the adverse weather and the Sectional in Palm Coast.
- It was noted that we are
spending more on supplies, particularly printer cartridges because of the
new practice of supplying game printouts.
Old Business:
- The terrazzo floors have been
cleaned. The board expresses its
thanks to Carol Lively, Gail Rust, and Betty Bayard for making this happen.
- We also discussed the possible
need for carpet cleaning and table top cleaning.
New Business:
- Betty Sandifer, our Unit 128 board
member representative, has provided to us new directions from the
Unit. During Sectionals, the club
should be providing prizes to first place winners. The club should also have lessons each
day. This information will be
passed along to our tournament organizers.
- The club is looking for members
to serve on the September Sectional Committee.
- Mattie’s Thursday morning
classes have dropped in attendance.
She has requested that the class be canceled for the summer. She would like to start a new Thursday
AM class in October. The board
noted the great job she is doing for the club. She has brought in significant new
members and feedback from her students is very good.
- Spike presented a proposed game
schedule for the next quarter. Several
ideas were entertained regarding Pro Am games and Triple point games.
The next meeting will be Monday July
20.
Meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
