DMBC BOARD MEETING

August 17, 2009

President, Jim Geary, called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

Members in attendance were Jim, Barbara, Donna, Judy, Scott, and Lynn.

Peg Lupo attended as a guest.  Spike was also in attendance.

Financial report:   Presented by Jim –

The month of July was very much in line with what was budgeted except for the expense of the new A/C unit and the required roof work.

That work has now been completed.

September Sectional:  Status report presented by Judy -

Judy brought us up to date on the status of various details of the September Sectional.  Everything seems to be in place.  The committee plans to meet once more prior to the tournament to handle any loose ends.

Betty Bayard arranged the following speakers for the tournament:

            Spike Lay

Lynn Berg

Shannon Cappelletti

January Sectional:

Judy and Chet have negotiated very good rates at the Holiday Inn for the upcoming January tournament.

Publicity:

Judy reported on the status of publicity for Matie’s upcoming class.  Matie and Bill provided the board with an impressive flyer to advertise the class.  Donna agreed to make colored copies of flyer for posting in various locations.  It was moved and seconded to have 500 copies printed in B/W at Staples for mailing and handouts.

Classes:

The board has approved an allowance for a director refresher course to be given by Spike. Directors, as well as the instructor, will be paid for their time.  This can be conducted quarterly as Spike deems necessary.

Miscellaneous:

Peg Lupo attended the meeting with a suggestion of making the limited sections of the Monday and Wednesday games 500 pts. /NLM.  After some discussion, the board decided to take up the subject again next month after the attendance begins to pick up from the summer.

The director pay scale was discussed.  This has been referred to the Finance Committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 p.m.

The next meeting will be Monday September 21.
