DMBC
BOARD MEETING
September 21, 2009
President, Jim Geary, called the meeting to order at 5:00
p.m.
Members in attendance were Jim, Barbara, Chet, Donna, John,
Judy, Scott, and Lynn.
Financial report:
Presented by John –
Food expenses for the month of August were again above the
budgeted amount. It was suggested that the
financial committee do some research breaking down the expenses to better determine
exactly what is happening. John and Judy
will comprise our finance committee for the coming year and will be doing
investigative work. The budget will be reevaluated.
John reported that the tournament was a success with the
table count being eleven tables higher than last year. The club made approximately $5000 on the
tournament.
Office supplies are again out of line; the reason likely being
the addition of hand records to our daily games and the resulting increase in printer
supplies needed.
.
Election of new board members: Chet, John, and Barbara’s terms on the board
are expiring this year. Jim is working
on appointing a nominating committee to recruit candidates for the board
election in November.
January Sectional: Plans for the January Sectional are
well on the way. The September Sectional
has given the committee a better feel for running a sectional. They are working on improving the system with
input from many of our club members.
Publicity: The club was sent information
regarding participation in the Senior Expo in Daytona this year. The cost of a table is $715. The board has decided to decline the
invitation this year.
Membership: In October, the club will begin to
collect dues for 2010. Some discussion
took place on the need for raising the dues.
It was voted to maintain the current $10 fee.
Miscellaneous: Implementation of a phone tree to
call club members and past club members, who have not played in a while, is
under consideration. The board is
working on ideas of how to get this started.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
The next meeting will be Monday October
19.
Respectfully submitted – Lynn Brown, Secretary
