DMBC BOARD MEETING

October 19, 2009

President, Jim Geary, called the meeting to order at 4:55 p.m.

Members in attendance were Jim, Barbara, Donna, John, Judy, Scott, and Lynn.

Financial report:

John reported that the club assets are at $51,590.   In spite of an unexplained high water bill and food costs above budget, our overall expenses for the month were down about $600 and our income was up $1000.

Judy has been doing a study of our overall budget and presented a report.  Due to increased food costs during the last year, the motion was made, seconded and approved to increase the monthly food budget by $100.

Directors:

Jim recommended an increase in Spike’s salary of $50 a month.  The motion was made, seconded and approved.

The board also approved a change in director’s fees.  There will be an increase to $55 for 1 to 10 tables and an additional $2 per table for all above 10.  All other fees will remain the same.  The issue of adjusting the fee for teaching has been tabled for a future discussion.

.

Sectional Kitchen Coordinator:

A temporary position of Kitchen Coordinator was proposed for the two Sectionals in 2010.  This position will be paid a stipend of $50 per day to plan meals, purchase food, recruit kitchen help and co-ordinate the overall kitchen activities.  Judy McCall has agreed to handle this job.  The motion was made, seconded and approved by the board.

Miscellaneous:

Jim reported that some maintenance and improvement has been completed in the men’s restroom.

The decreased attendance in the limited games on Mondays and Wednesdays was discussed.  With people now beginning to return for the winter season, it was proposed to offer free plays for the limited games on Monday and Wednesday, November 9 and 11.  The motion was made and passed to do so.

Our Club Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 11 at 1:00 pm..

The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 p.m.

The next board meeting will be Monday, November 16.

Respectfully submitted – Lynn Brown, Secretary
